Governors State University is preparing for the return of the Jaguar 5K on Saturday, Oct. 25, 2026, inviting students, clubs and organizations to participate in a campus event focused on fitness, school spirit and community involvement.
The announcement was shared by Mervat Saleh from the Accounting, Finance and Economics Club, encouraging student organizations to begin planning for volunteer and fundraising participation ahead of the event.
According to the announcement, the Jaguar 5K provides student clubs and organizations with opportunities to become more active on campus while promoting their organizations and supporting the university community. Organizers noted that the event is designed not only as a fitness activity, but also as a way for students to connect, collaborate and increase campus engagement.
Student organizations participating in the event will have several opportunities to contribute throughout the day. Volunteer responsibilities may include assisting with participant check-in, route monitoring, event set-up, clean-up and providing general support during the race. Clubs also will have opportunities to participate in fundraising efforts and increase awareness about their organizations among students attending the event.
University organizers shared that participation in the Jaguar 5K also may help student organizations earn volunteer service and fundraising credit toward annual club requirements. The event additionally offers organizations a chance to recruit new members and strengthen their campus presence through community interaction.
The Jaguar 5K has become one of the university’s campus engagement activities that encourages wellness, teamwork and student involvement. Organizers emphasized that the event is open to all student clubs and organizations across Governors State University.
More information regarding race registration, volunteer sign-ups and fundraising opportunities is expected to be announced in the coming months as planning for the event continues.
