Governors State University’s College of Health and Human Services (CHHS) hosted an event on April 21 to showcase its latest magazine, “Make Someone’s Life Better,” highlighting student achievement, academic programs and community impact.
The event introduced attendees to the newly released publication, which features a collection of stories focused on innovation, leadership and service within CHHS. Students explored the magazine and learned about ongoing initiatives, academic opportunities and the college’s role in preparing future healthcare professionals.
The magazine includes features on the use of advanced technology in patient care and education, demonstrating how CHHS integrates hands-on learning into its curriculum. It also highlights leadership updates, including developments within Addictions Studies and Behavioral Health and the introduction of new faculty in Occupational Therapy.
In addition to academic advancements, the publication emphasizes student and alumni success, including stories that reflect determination and the application of health informatics and healthcare knowledge in real-world settings.
Community engagement remains a central theme, with coverage of initiatives such as the CHNS Summer Health Camp and service-based learning experiences. The magazine also highlights fundraising efforts, including a $30,000 contribution from Delta Sigma Boule to support international service learning opportunities.
The event provided a space for students to connect with CHHS resources, explore student organizations and gain a deeper understanding of the college’s mission. Information about undergraduate and graduate programs was also shared, outlining career pathways in healthcare, social services and related fields.
Through this event, CHHS reinforced its commitment to academic excellence, community involvement and professional development while encouraging students to engage with opportunities that extend beyond the classroom.
