The Governors State women’s golf team closed out its season at the CCAC Conference Tournament at University Park Golf Course, with Alexis Foltz and Olivia Baxa representing the Jaguars across two rounds of play as Olivet Nazarene University claimed the team title.
Foltz led the way for GovState, carding rounds of +35 and +45 for a two-round total of +80 to finish 30th individually in the field. Baxa finished just behind her, posting rounds of +47 and +48 for a +95 total to tie for 32nd. With only two athletes competing, the Jaguars did not register a team score, but both players saw the tournament through to the finish in a competitive conference field that featured six full programs.
Tournament medalist honors went to Isabell Burnett of Judson, who finished at +11 to claim individual low honors for the event.
It was a challenging day on a difficult course, but Foltz and Baxa showed up, competed, and represented their program on the conference stage. Congratulations to both athletes and the entire Governors State women’s golf team on their season. With the program continuing to grow, the foundation being built now will pay off down the road. Good things are ahead.
