Jaguar Student Media is calling on students, faculty, and staff to take part in shaping a new chapter for the Phoenix, the student-run digital newspaper. As the publication begins to transform, organizers are inviting the campus community to help choose a name or even suggest one.
The initiative aims to create a dynamic platform where Jaguar voices can be heard, stories can be shared, and campus culture can thrive. From student achievements and campus events to opinion pieces and investigative reporting, the digital newspaper is striving to reflect the diverse perspectives of the GovState community.
To make the publication truly representative, organizers believe the name should come directly from the people it will serve. Members of the campus are encouraged to vote on a shortlist of potential names or submit their own original ideas. The only requirement: the name must include “Jaguar” and be two to three words long.
Students can participate by accessing the online voting form, which will remain open through the end of the week. Submissions for new name ideas are also being accepted during this period. Finalists will be selected based on creativity, relevance, and community interest, with the winning name announced shortly after voting concludes.
Whether you’re passionate about journalism, eager to contribute ideas, or simply want your voice heard, this is your chance to leave a lasting mark on GovState history.
