Governor State University’s Lakeside Cove buzzed with excitement on March 26 as the GovState Chemistry Club and Innovation Club came together to host their “Keys to Fun” fundraiser. Held from 12 to 3 p.m. outside the Lakeside Lounge, the event drew a vibrant mix of students and staff, all eager to explore a creative blend of science and design.
The fundraiser featured an array of 3D-printed items inspired by everyday organic molecules and the iconic Erlenmeyer flask. These designs transformed scientific concepts into fun, functional accessories that quickly caught the attention of attendees. Keychains, earrings, and mobile phone holders were among the most popular items, with many participants enthusiastically browsing and making purchases throughout the afternoon.
Beyond simply buying items, the event encouraged creativity and personalization. Several students and staff signed order request forms, expressing interest in having custom pieces printed based on their own ideas and preferences. This interactive element added a unique touch, allowing attendees to feel more connected to the process.
The collaboration between the Chemistry Club and Innovation Club highlighted how science and innovation can intersect in engaging and meaningful ways. More than just a fundraiser, the event fostered curiosity, creativity, and a sense of community across campus.
As the event wrapped up, it was clear that “Keys to Fun” successfully combined learning with enjoyment, leaving participants inspired and eager for future creative opportunities.
