Governors State University came alive with color and creativity on March 12 as the Biology Club hosted its “Bloom into Spring” fundraiser at Lakeside Cove. Held from 1 to 3 p.m. just outside the Lakeside Lounge, the event welcomed students to celebrate the arrival of spring in a unique and hands-on way.
The highlight of the afternoon was the “make your own bouquet” activity, where participants selected from a variety of fresh flowers to design personalized arrangements. Laughter and conversation filled the space as students bonded over their shared creativity, carefully choosing colors and styles that reflected their personalities. The event not only encouraged artistic expression but also offered a relaxing break from academic routines.
Members of the Biology Club were on hand to guide participants, sharing fun facts about the flowers and their ecological significance. This added an educational touch to the event, tying the beauty of florals back to the club’s mission of promoting appreciation for the natural world. The fundraiser drew a strong turnout, with many students expressing how much they enjoyed the interactive experience. It was more than just an event it was a chance to connect with others, welcome the new season, and support the Biology Club’s initiatives.
As the afternoon came to a close, students left with handcrafted bouquets and smiles, carrying a piece of spring with them. “Bloom into Spring” proved to be a refreshing and memorable way to celebrate the season, leaving the GSU community looking forward to more engaging events from the Biology Club.
