Governors State University recently hosted an engaging and educational event titled “Teach Me How to Turn Up: Alcohol Awareness Workshop” on Tuesday, March 10 in the Hall of Governors. Organized by the Counseling and Wellness Center in collaboration with Advocate Aurora, the event aimed to educate students about responsible alcohol use while creating a fun and welcoming atmosphere.
Many students attended the workshop and actively participated in the various activities throughout the afternoon. The event combined education with entertainment, making it easier for students to learn important information about alcohol awareness in a relaxed and interactive setting. Games, prizes, refreshments, and creative activities kept the room lively and encouraged students to connect with one another.
One of the most memorable highlights of the event was a fun and humorous competition that had everyone laughing and cheering. Participants were asked to choose one drink from three options beer, whisky, or wine and then attempt to pour the drink into a glass with the correct measurement. The challenge turned out to be trickier than many expected, and the crowd enjoyed watching their friends carefully try to estimate the right amount. Those who successfully poured the correct measurement won prizes, making the activity both educational and entertaining.
In addition to the competition, students also enjoyed food and painting activities, which gave them the opportunity to relax, express their creativity, and socialize with others.
The “Teach Me How to Turn Up” Alcohol Awareness Workshop successfully combined learning with fun, helping students better understand responsible drinking habits and the importance of making informed choices. Events like this highlight Governors State University’s commitment to supporting student well-being and creating opportunities for students to learn, connect, and grow in a safe and engaging environment.
