Engbretson Hall was filled with creativity, laughter, and a sense of community on Monday, March 9, as the Upstanding Ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Upsilon Rho Chapter hosted their “Ivy Family.” The gathering brought students together for an afternoon of painting, games, and puzzles, creating a welcoming environment where participants could relax, socialize, and express their creativity.
Throughout the event, attendees enjoyed hands-on activities that encouraged collaboration and fun. Painting stations allowed students to showcase their artistic talents, while puzzles and interactive games gave everyone an opportunity to work together and build connections. The room was filled with positive energy as students laughed, shared ideas, and supported one another.
Members of the Upsilon Rho Chapter organized the event to provide a space where students could unwind from their busy schedules and spend quality time with peers. The Ivy Family event reflected Alpha Kappa Alpha’s commitment to sisterhood, service, and fostering meaningful relationships within the campus community.
Students who attended appreciated the relaxed atmosphere and the chance to participate in creative activities while meeting new people. Events like this highlight the importance of building strong connections on campus and creating spaces where students feel welcome and engaged.
As the event came to a close, participants left with their finished artwork, new friendships, and lasting memories. The Ivy Family gathering served as a reminder that small moments of creativity and community can have a lasting impact, and the Upsilon Rho Chapter continues to play an important role in bringing the Governors State University community together.
