Governors State University came alive on Feb. 24, when students gathered in Engbretson Hall for “Legends of the Game & Stage: Family Feud Edition,” a vibrant Black History Month celebration hosted by the Jaguar Drill Team. The space was transformed into a lively arena filled with laughter, and friendly competition.
The event featured two teams facing off in a fast-paced Family Feud-style showdown. Each round spotlighted iconic Black athletes, entertainers, and cultural trailblazers who have made lasting impacts in sports, music, film, and entertainment. Participants answered questions honoring championship winners, award-winning performers, and groundbreaking legends whose contributions have shaped history.
Teams celebrated correct answers and reacted to unexpected survey results. The atmosphere truly felt like a mix between a championship game and an awards show, bringing out team spirit and school pride in everyone present. Spectators eagerly supported their friends, making the event interactive and engaging even for those not playing.
In addition to the competition, the program served as a meaningful tribute to Black excellence. Each question sparked recognition and conversation about the achievements, influence, and legacy of figures who have paved the way for future generations.
Guests also enjoyed free food and giveaways, adding to the festive and welcoming environment. By the end of the evening, attendees left not only entertained but inspired, having celebrated culture, community, and excellence together.
“Legends of the Game & Stage: Family Feud Edition” proved to be more than just a game; it was a powerful and joyful celebration of history, impact, and unity at Governors State University.
