Students at Govstate looking for a relaxed, low-pressure way to sharpen their professional skills and expand their network will have the perfect opportunity this March. The Office of Career Services is hosting the Putt & Pitch Social Hour on Wednesday, March 4, from 3–4:30 p.m. in the Hall of Governors an event designed to make career preparation both fun and approachable.
Unlike traditional workshops or formal networking sessions, this event blends mini-golf with career development. Students can practice their elevator pitch while enjoying a casual game, creating an environment where conversations happen naturally. Mentors and career professionals will be on hand to coach participants, offer feedback, and help refine introductions that could make a lasting impression at internships, job fairs, and interviews. It’s a setting that removes the pressure and replaces it with confidence-building experiences.
Beyond skill-building, the social hour offers something many students say they need most: genuine connections. Whether you’re meeting classmates from different majors, talking with career advisors, or simply sharing laughs over a putt, these interactions can lead to friendships, collaborations, and future opportunities. Networking doesn’t have to feel intimidating and this event proves it.
There’s also an added incentive to attend. Light refreshments will be provided, and students who participate will be entered into a drawing to win one of two $25 bookstore gift cards. It’s a small bonus that makes showing up even more rewarding.
Events like this are rare because they combine professional growth with real enjoyment. If you’ve been meaning to polish your pitch, meet new people, or get more involved on campus, this is the moment to step out and engage. Make plans now to register and attend. So, bring your energy, your ideas, and your smile. Don’t miss the chance to learn, connect, and stand out.
