Inspired by the heartwarming message of Maddi’s Fridge, a play featured by the Center for Performing Arts at Governors State University, the campus community has launched Maddi’s Meals: The Fill-A-Fridge Project, a collective effort to fight food insecurity and support local families in need.
Running from Oct. 13 through Nov. 22, the initiative invites students, faculty, and staff to donate non-perishable food items such as canned goods, pasta, snacks, grains, baby items, and shelf-stable proteins. All donations will benefit Provision Lab, a local organization dedicated to providing food assistance to individuals and families experiencing hunger.
The project is presented in partnership with the Center for Performing Arts, the Social Work Student Organization, Phi Alpha Honor Society, the GovState Counselling and Wellness Center, GovState Track and Field, and the College of Health and Human Services.
Donation boxes have been placed around campus to make participation easy and accessible. Every contribution, big or small, helps fill a fridge and make a difference in the community.
The Governors State University community is encouraged to take part by donating food and spreading awareness. Together, the Fill-A-Fridge Project aims to ensure that no one in the community goes hungry this season.
Be part of the story bring a non-perishable food item, fill a fridge, and help make a difference!
