The Governors State women’s bowling team turned in one of its strongest showings of the season at the Leatherneck Classic, placing 8th out of 28 varsity teams across two days of qualifying in Rockford and Loves Park. GovState held its position inside the top ten throughout the event, staying steady on both house patterns and outperforming several well-established programs.
The Jaguars were led by Kahlen Ranson, who delivered a standout weekend with a top-20 finish. Her five-game 953 block, highlighted by a 232 and multiple games flirting with 200, helped establish an early scoring pace that carried through the lineup. Right behind her, Jenna Ritchie added another significant boost with a 930 series built on consistent shot-making across all five games, keeping GovState securely in the upper third of the standings.
Haley Leuze contributed an 872 set that included a strong 208, helping stabilize the rotation in traditional play. Cameryn Landers added an 833 series of her own, stringing together mid-170 games that kept GovState’s scoring rhythm intact. Throughout the two-day event, the rest of the varsity roster stepped in with timely fills and clean frames that helped push the team to a total of 7,208 pins.
GovState’s eighth-place finish put the Jaguars just behind St. Francis (IL) and slightly ahead of Saint Xavier, making them one of only nine teams in the entire tournament to cross the 7,200-pin threshold. The effort marked another step forward in depth and consistency as the team heads into the December portion of its schedule.
