Governors State University Theater and Performance Studies is currently seeking auditions for its upcoming student production, “By the Way, Meet Vera Stark.”
The play was written by Lynn Nottage and details the life of Vera Stark, an African American woman who lands an acting role along with her boss, set in the 1930s. The production will be live and in front of an audience. Rehearsals will be on campus, and auditions are open to students and non-students, as well as a varied level of experience to no experience.
The position does not pay, and those who are planning to audition should memorize one dramatic and one comedic monologue. Make sure the monologue does not exceed two minutes. Auditions can be done either in person on Nov. 19, on campus in Sherman Hall, or a digital tape can be sent through email to the [email protected] by Nov. 17.
The performance will have four public shows. Here is the link to sign up for an audition time slot and receive more information on the auditions: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0B4FAAAE22A1F8CE9-57242888-bytheway#/
