Get ready for an afternoon of inspiration, conversation, and connection as Psi Chi Psychology National Honor Society hosts its November Eat & Greet featuring Dr. Lamise Shawahin, an accomplished counselling psychologist and respected voice in multicultural and mental health research.
This casual, sit-down session, held just before Psi Chi’s general meeting, invites students and faculty to enjoy cookies and coffee while engaging with Dr. Shawahin on topics that matter from mental health in Arab and Muslim communities to race-based stress, identity, and well-being.
Shawhin’s work bridges cultures and challenges barriers. As the former president of the American Arab and Middle Eastern North African Psychological Association and Associate Editor for the Journal of Muslim Mental Health, she has published widely and spoken internationally on social justice, health disparities, and advocacy. Beyond her impactful work in the U.S., she also teaches at the Arab American University in Palestine, fostering cross-cultural mentorship and education.
This is more than an eat & greet. It’s a rare opportunity to hear directly from a leading voice in psychology whose scholarship continues to shape global conversations about equity and mental health.
Come curious, come hungry, and leave inspired. Whether you join in person or virtually, this event promises meaningful dialogue, community connection, and a sweet treat or two.
