GovState dropped a hard-fought match against conference contender Holy Cross, conceding a goal early in each half. Despite the 2–0 result, goalkeeper Valentina Jimenez delivered one of her best performances of the season, recording 19 saves on 21 shots on goal. Holy Cross’s Frances Parks opened the scoring in the 8th minute and later assisted Mia Garatoni on the final goal midway through the second half. The Jaguars managed three total shots, with Koumba Dembele, Ana Rodrigues, and Olivia Jeziorczak each creating attacking chances but unable to break through the Saints’ defense. The Jaguars’ back line, led by Victoria Salas and Francia Hernandez, held steady under heavy pressure, keeping GovState within striking distance through much of the second half before Holy Cross sealed the win late.
St. Francis (IL) 4, Governors State 1 — Senior Night
GovState showed flashes of promise in a 4–1 defeat to St. Francis on Senior Night, highlighted by an early goal from Ana Rodrigues, assisted by Koumba Dembele, just six minutes into play. The Jaguars matched the Saints with nine shots per half and stayed competitive through much of the first period before a pair of quick St. Francis goals shifted momentum. Jimenez tallied 10 saves on 14 shots faced, continuing her strong week in net. Rodrigues’ early finish marked her team-leading goal total for the month, while Dembele’s assist brought her to two on the season. Despite a resilient effort in possession and shot creation, GovState was unable to convert in the second half as St. Francis added insurance goals to close out the match. The game also marked the Jaguars’ final home appearance of the season, as the team honored its seniors before kickoff.
