Governors State University shined bright on Thursday, Oct. 23, as students, faculty, and community members gathered to celebrate Diwali – the Festival of Lights. Hosted by the International Culture Organization, the festival and filled the campus with joy, color, and cultural pride.
A highlight of the event was a special talk by Professor Uday Shinde, who shared the story behind the festival. He explained the ancient tale that represents the victory of righteousness, truth, and unity. Shinde emphasized the moral of the story: no matter how dark the times may seem, light and goodness always prevail. His words deeply resonated with the audience and reminded everyone of the timeless values that Diwali upholds.
Guests enjoyed delicious Indian food, traditional sweets, and lively music throughout the event.
