Governors State 5, Viterbo 3
GovState’s attack surged in a high-scoring 5–3 victory over Viterbo, powered by a dominant first half that saw three Jaguar goals in the opening 25 minutes.
Tyler Diewert started the scoring in the 7th minute off an assist from Joan Gallardo, followed by an unassisted strike from Marton Borombos and a composed finish from Abraham Jaimes via Pedro Mendez. Jaimes later completed his brace in the 69th minute, while Mattia Motzo added his fourth goal of the season to help secure the win.
Despite Viterbo cutting the deficit with goals from Joaquin Eichhorn and Pablo Orrego Zapata, GovState’s early lead proved decisive. Matias Gallego recorded eight saves in goal, including key stops in the second half to preserve the two-goal cushion.
The victory marked one of GovState’s highest scoring outputs of the season and improved their CCAC record to 3–4–1.
Governors State 2, Indiana Northwest 0
The Jaguars carried their momentum into a second straight win, blanking Indiana Northwest behind a strong defensive showing and another stellar performance from Gallego, who notched a six-save shutout.
After a scoreless first half, Zaid Sibaai broke through with an unassisted goal in the 57th minute, followed by a late insurance strike from Diewert, his second in as many matches. GovState’s back line, anchored by Pedro Mendez and Ted Holstein, limited Indiana Northwest to low-percentage shots throughout, while the offense efficiently converted both second-half opportunities.
The result marked GovState’s third conference win and second consecutive multi-goal outing, further solidifying their late-season push.
