Governors State capped a busy week on the road with a five-set victory over Trinity Christian, followed by a competitive three-set loss at Indiana South Bend.
On Tuesday, the Jaguars edged Trinity Christian in a thrilling five-set battle (16–25, 25–20, 26–24, 27–29, 15–13) inside DeVos Gymnasium. Greta Bochert led the offense with 22 kills and 17 digs, while Trenyce Bonner added 15 kills and 11 digs. Delia MacDonald turned in a strong two-way effort with 12 kills and three blocks, and setter Alexah Martinez powered the attack with a season-high 53 assists. Defensively, Vanessa Segura anchored the back row with 26 digs as GovState totaled 92 in the match to improve to 6–3 in CCAC play.
Two days later, GovState faced Indiana South Bend and fell in straight sets (22–25, 20–25, 17–25). Despite the setback, the Jaguars showed balance across their rotation as Bochert again paced the offense with 11 kills, Delia MacDonald added six kills and a .294 hitting percentage, and Martinez finished with 24 assists. Trenyce Bonner and Vanessa Segura combined for 25 digs, keeping rallies alive throughout a closely contested first set.
The split moves GovState to 7–18 overall (6–4 CCAC) as the Jaguars return home to host Viterbo on Saturday, Oct. 11 (1 p.m.) at the GovState ARC in University Park.
