Governors State men’s golf turned in a dominant performance at the Trinity Christian Troll Fall Classic, finishing first out of six teams and placing four golfers inside the top ten. The Jaguars posted a team total of +20, outpacing runner-up Judson (+32) and host Trinity Christian (+35) to claim the team title.
Sophomore Casey Taylor led the field and captured individual medalist honors after carding a two-under-par 70, the only score under par among all competitors. Taylor’s consistent play set the tone early, giving GovState its edge in the standings and marking one of the lowest single-round scores by a Jaguar this season.
Julio Roman tied for third with a solid 76, while Juan Rodriguez and Zach Hickman each finished tied for ninth at 81. Austin Bjes rounded out the lineup, tying for 26th with a 92 as the Jaguars secured their first-place finish by a comfortable 12-stroke margin.
Governors State now turns its attention to the Whistling Straits Collegiate Classic, a three-day event taking place starting Oct. 19 in Kohler, Wisconsin.
