The GovState Men’s Golf team wrapped up their 2025 season at the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Championship, hosted at the prestigious TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois, a course known for testing even the most seasoned players.
The Jaguars entered the three-day championship with determination, competing in a practice round on Sunday, April 27, before diving into 54 holes of competition over two intense days.
On April 28, the team posted a solid effort, tying for 6th place after the first 36 holes of play. Ryan Fontaine led the charge with rounds of 83 and 82, Dan Davila with 87-84, and Jack Hayhurst carded 90s across both rounds. The team held its own among nine competitors in the field.
The championship concluded on April 29, with the Jaguars finishing 8th overall. Fontaine capped off his tournament with an 85, landing him in a tie for 13th individually, a notable placement in a field of skilled conference golfers. Dan Davila closed just behind in a tie for 21st, finishing with an 86 in round three. Jack Hayhurst rounded out the GovState leaderboard with a final round of 98.
The leaderboard tells only part of the story; the heart and consistency this group brought throughout the season deserve the final spotlight. Each player represented GovState with resilience and sportsmanship, navigating a challenging schedule and harsh conditions with focus and camaraderie.
