The Governors State University graduation party this year is being given a stylish spin—literally. On Tuesday, May 13, graduates will sail off in style aboard a luxury cruise from Navy Pier at 5 p.m. for an evening of elegance, music, and lakefront views during the Sneaker Ball & Boat Cruise.

A portion of GovState’s Grad Celebration Week, this one-of-a-kind party invites graduating students to come dressed to impress in their best formal attire—with a fresh twist. Gowns and tuxedos paired with fresh kicks. It’s where individual style meets high style, where the vibe is as fabulous as it is cool.

“This is all about honoring our graduates in a classy but unforgettable manner,” said one organizer in the Office of Student Life. “We wanted to offer an alternative—something bold—that keeps up with the excitement of this moment in their lives.”

The cruise not only promises breathtaking glimpses of the city skyline, but also non-stop music, dancing, and partying with your fellow graduates prior to you all scattering. Wherever you take pictures on deck or enjoy gourmet morsels inside, the night is orchestrated to create ageless memories.

Tickets are $70 for one person or $100 for a couple, and attendees need to be 21+ to attend. With no space to spare on the boat, students need to purchase their tickets early so they can ensure they can join the party for this one-time celebration.
