GovState University recently hosted an impactful event in honor of Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month, where students and staff gathered to create T-shirts for the Clothesline Project. The event was held in the D-Building Atrium on April 1 from noon to 5:30 p.m.
The day was marked by creativity and solidarity as participants worked together to make T-shirts that would break the silence surrounding sexual assault and domestic violence.
The shirts were designed and donated by a diverse group of students, who poured their hearts and messages of hope into each piece.
The T-shirts will be hung on display as part of GovState’s Clothesline Project, a visual representation of the personal experiences of survivors and the ongoing effort to raise awareness and prevent abuse.
The event was facilitated by staff from ASAP (Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention) community partners, who played an instrumental role in organizing the event and providing resources for participants.
The Center for Wellness and Counseling (CWC) also collaborated in the effort, highlighting the community’s dedication to addressing these critical issues together.
Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month serves as a vital reminder of the importance of speaking out against abuse and supporting survivors.
The Clothesline Project, which has been an annual tradition at GovState, continues to provide a platform for students to express their solidarity, raise awareness, and bring light to a subject that too often remains hidden.
Through creativity, collaboration, and commitment, the event was a meaningful contribution to ending violence and ensuring that survivors’ voices are heard and respected.
