GovState is setting the scene for the seventh annual Chicago Southland International Film Festival, scheduled for April 3-5.
The festival will be held on campus in the F-Building Amphitheater. The program includes a diverse selection of international shorts and local feature films.
The three-day celebration of cinema showcases compelling storytelling from high school to professional filmmakers. Attendees can enjoy red carpet events, complimentary popcorn, and Q&A sessions with filmmakers at select programs.
This year’s highlights include locally produced films “Fire Department, Inc.” directed by Colin C. Hughes and “The Premiere” directed by Jon Silver. An international short film competition will include four curated programs with a wide variety of films.
“We’re really excited about the lineup this year,” said Josh Young, director of Digital Learning & Media Design and festival director. “We have 29 films in total.”
Young said that while some of the entries are locally produced, submissions to the festival include works from around the world.
Information about the films, schedules, purchasing tickets, and festival passes is available on Eventive. GovState students get a 33% discount on admission to the festival. A virtual festival will be available to view remotely on April 6.
