As finals week approaches, students are often weighed down by stress, pressure, and the never-ending cycle of studying. Recognizing the importance of relaxation during this time, the Counseling and Wellness Center hosted the Cocoa, Coffee, and Cram De-Stress event on Friday, Dec. 5this morning, offering students a peaceful escape to recharge before the intense days ahead.
The event, held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in Engbretson Hall (B1200), was a welcomed break for many students. With a cozy atmosphere created by soft lighting, soothing relaxation music, and a supply of warm drinks, it gave students the perfect opportunity to unwind. Free cocoa, coffee, tea, and light breakfast snacks like muffins and fruit were offered, fueling both minds and bodies. Comfy pillows and blankets were also provided, encouraging students to relax and recharge in between their study sessions.
For those still focused on their coursework, tables were set up for students to cram and study, allowing them to balance relaxation with productivity. This thoughtful setup catered to various needs, ensuring that everyone could benefit from the event in their own way. The first ten students to attend were even treated to relaxing gifts, adding a little extra incentive to stop by.
The importance of relaxation during finals week cannot be overstated. Studies show that taking breaks and reducing stress can improve focus, memory retention, and overall well-being. By offering a calm environment with the right tools to relax, the Counseling and Wellness Center provided students with a much-needed opportunity to de-stress and prepare for the challenges ahead.
Students who attended this morning’s event appreciated the chance to take a breather, with many mentioning how helpful it was to have a calm space to refresh their minds before diving back into their studies. The event was a success, and its timing couldn’t have been better—reminding students that mental health and relaxation are just as important as academics during finals week.
As the semester comes to a close, it’s crucial for students to remember the value of self-care and to prioritize their well-being. Events like Cocoa, Coffee, and Cram offer a reminder that it’s okay to take a step back and relax, ensuring students head into finals feeling more balanced and ready to tackle their exams.
