The Governors State women’s basketball team continued their unbeaten streak with a decisive 77-58 road win over Aquinas. Governors State took control early, outscoring Aquinas 20-17 in the first quarter and building on their lead through a balanced offensive and defensive effort. By halftime, they held a 39-28 lead and maintained their momentum throughout the game.
Leading the charge, Tabetha Jones delivered a standout performance, scoring 26 points on 10-19 shooting, including 5 free throws, and adding 3 rebounds and 4 assists. Kalvina Eubanks also contributed significantly, putting up 17 points and grabbing 8 rebounds while making 2 three-pointers. Cencere McDaniel showcased her shooting efficiency with 16 points, hitting 5 of 8 from the field and adding 4 assists.
Zareia Chevre also contributed with 11 points and matched Eubanks on the boards with 8 rebounds, while Da’Naria Washington added a solid defensive presence, recording 5 steals along with 4 assists. Off the bench, Izzy Agredano and Jocelyn Muenster each contributed to the Jaguars’ rebounding efforts.
Governors State shot 43.5% from the field and showed solid free-throw accuracy at 69.2%. Their defense pressured Aquinas into turnovers and limited their scoring in each quarter. The team’s balanced performance secured a comfortable win, improving their season record to 2-0.
