The Governors State women’s soccer team delivered a dominating performance on Saturday, Oct. 9, shutting out Calumet College of St. Joseph 11-0. The Jaguars took control early, with Victoria Salas scoring the opening goal in the 10th minute, assisted by Atzihiri Guido. Guido found the back of the net herself later in the half, with an assist from Jinni Jimenez, putting the Jaguars ahead 2-0.
Jada Cunningham added to the lead with a goal assisted by Ana Rodrigues, followed by goals from Alyssa Dillinger and Morgan Bean before the halftime whistle, giving Governors State a commanding 5-0 lead at the break. The second half saw more of the same, with Jimenez scoring just three minutes into the half, assisted by Bean.
The Jaguars continued their offensive onslaught, as Bean, Salas, Claudia Lopez, Koumba Dembele, and Rodrigues each added goals to extend the lead to 11-0 by the 76th minute. Bean led the team with two goals and two assists.
Governors State recorded 54 shots and 31 of those on goal, while goalkeeper Valentina Jimenez made one save to preserve the clean sheet. The Jaguars will look to carry this momentum into their next match against St. Xavier on October 23.
