The Governors State Jaguars delivered a commanding 10-0 victory over Calumet College of St. Joseph on Saturday, making Senior Night even more special. The evening began with a ceremony honoring the contributions of seniors Matias Gallego, Alexander Judd, John Gonzalez, Diego Camarena, Rafael Silverio, Luis Escalante, Leonardo Coutu, Felipe Nakabara, Peter Sorich, Christopher Quevedo, and Chris Groesbeck.
The Jaguars wasted no time getting on the board, with Joan Gallardo scoring just 47 seconds into the match, assisted by fellow senior Rafael Silverio. Andrea Croce followed with two quick goals, the first of which was assisted by Silverio, giving Governors State a 3-0 lead early in the first half. Silverio added a goal of his own, assisted by senior Diego Camarena, extending the Jaguars’ lead.
By halftime, the score was 8-0 after goals from Jero Bencomo, Jovanni Salazar, Horace Spence, and Abraham Jaimes. In the second half, Gallardo and Croce added one more goal each to complete the Jaguars’ dominant performance, with Escalante assisting both.
It was a fitting celebration for the seniors, many of whom played key roles in the win, demonstrating their dedication and skill. Governors State now turns their attention to their next match against St. Xavier on Oct. 22.
