The Governors State Jaguars men’s golf team concluded the Holy Cross Invitational with an 11th-place finish on Oct. 15. They competed against a tough field at the Warren Golf Course in South Bend, Indiana. The Jaguars posted a solid team effort across the board, with senior Dan Davila leading the team with a final-round score of 83. His consistent play throughout the tournament showcased his experience on a challenging course.
Junior Jack Hayhurst followed with an 87, putting together a steady round despite the course’s demanding conditions. Behind him, teammates Zach Hickman and Louis Wappler both finished with rounds of 89. Their contributions highlighted the Jaguars’ determination as they fought to gain every possible stroke throughout the event.
Ryan Fontaine rounded out Governors State’s scoring with a 92. The Jaguars battled throughout the tournament but ultimately placed 11th out of 11 teams, leaving room for improvement as they progress and hone their skills.
While the tournament outcome wasn’t what the Jaguars hoped for, their effort and grit remain strong. The team will regroup and look to sharpen their game, seeking to build upon the lessons learned from the Holy Cross Invitational and the season as a whole.
