The Governors State University women’s volleyball team faced St. Ambrose University on Sept. 28, looking to end a tough stretch in conference play. Despite their efforts, the Jaguars were swept in three sets, dropping their record to 4-8 overall and 0-4 in conference play.
The Jaguars started strong in the first set, battling back and forth before ultimately falling 20-25. In the second and third sets, St. Ambrose took control, and the Jaguars couldn’t find their rhythm, dropping both sets 16-25.
Individually, there were some standout performances for GovState. Delia MacDonald led the team with 8 kills on 23 attempts, while Jennifer Barwicka followed with 7 kills and a solid .250 hitting percentage. Yareli Pacheco contributed 19 assists and added 8 digs and 2.5 points. Defensively, Cheyenne Joachim had 11 digs to lead the team, while Alejandra Maldonado and Vanessa Freitas added 5 digs each
