Governors State University kicked off its celebration of Women’s History Month with a display in the B building. The display will be viewable all month long. GSU community members also will have an opportunity in early March to thank the women who have inspired or impacted them.
From March 18 – 29, find collection boxes across campus for the EmpowerHer Donation Campaign. Your support will provide essential items for Sarah’s Circle Women’s Shelter at GSU.
On March 19, the university sponsored a celebration titled #ThankYouWomen, presenting a range of events recognizing women’s contributions to history and culture.
Empower yourself by attending the “Women’s Self Defense” workshop at Engbretson Hall on March 28 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Dress comfortably and gain valuable self-defense skills.
Don’t miss the “My Now, My Next” panel discussion at the Hall of Honors on March 29. from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Registration is necessary for this event, where accomplished women from various fields will share their experiences and perspectives.
Women’s History Month honors the achievements and contributions of women throughout history. It began as a week-long event in the 1970s and expanded to a month in 1987. It serves to recognize the accomplishments of women in various fields and highlights the ongoing struggle for gender equality. Through events and activities, it aims to educate and inspire people to create a more inclusive and equitable world.
