Radio Jaguar, the GSU student-run internet radio station, is expanding its programming with two more programs in addition to the music mix. “Jaguar Pride” starts airing Thursday, Feb 22, and on Wednesday, Feb 28, “Sounds and Breakdowns” debuts on the station.
“Jaguar Pride” airs on most Thursdays at noon, hosted by Radio Jaguar Faculty Advisor and Media Studies Assistant Professor Dr. Lara Hrycaj. Each week Hrycaj will showcase the people, events and activities that make GovState proud. The first episode on Feb. 22 will feature TAPS Professor and Artistic Director Dr. Patrick Santoro discussing the upcoming production “The Exonerated” and other TAPS-related topics. Feb. 29 will feature Interdisciplinary Studies Assistant Professor Dr. Crystal Harris discussing voting and the upcoming GovState Super Tuesday Election Night Watch Party.
On the the second Thursday of the month, “Jaguar Pride” steps aside for “Booomin Sports” hosted by Jason Gonzalez. A repeat of “Jaguar Pride” will air on Mondays at Noon.
On Feb. 28, another new offering arrives on Radio Jaguar when “Sounds and Breakdowns” with Richi Bernard premieres on Wednesdays from 2 – 3 p.m. Bernard is a media studies student and will be dissecting the music that moves us, especially featuring music from videos games, anime and much more.
“Jaguar Pride” and “Sounds and Breakdowns” join “Booomin Sports” and “Fresh Ideas at Noon Mix” with DJ Tam (Tuesdays noon-2 p.m.) to form Radio Jaguar’s opening quartet of programming. DJ Tam will be featuring a musical mix of artists from various genres and sprinkling of hot topics, current events and more.
