Students kick off new podcast series with “History Impacts”
The students of the Advanced Audio Production class in the Media Studies Program at GSU are working on developing their own semi-regular podcasts on a variety of subjects. The first episodes have been completed by students covering a variety of topics from the latest in streaming, the importance of music, pitbull education, and history.
The first podcast to be featured in this ongoing series is by Claude T. Martinez entitled “History Impacts.” The first episode covers Sarah Emma Edmonds and her little-known story of impersonating a man to join the military during the Civil War and becoming a spy for the Union forces. Edmonds story is stranger than fiction and Martinez mixes facts and some entertaining asides to present her story.

A fascinating account of a woman serving in the Civil War. I’ve never heard of this amazing woman or the story of her loyal and courageous journey through the war.
This is a great podcast and I hope to hear more of the unknown and forgotten women in history . Thank you.
