Lots of Pep fills Jaguars’ Homecoming rally
Students, staff, and faculty came together for the Homecoming pep rally in the Hall of Governors on Oct. 21, a first since COVID restrictions were put in place more than 18 months ago.
Hosted by GSU’s coordinator of Student Clubs and Organizations, Chris Mcbride and his co-host, CSEIP Graduate Assistant Chaundrea Jenkins, the pep rally brought together all of GSU’s athletes from both men’s and women’s sports – basketball, soccer, and golf.
With live music by DJ Swerve, performances, free gifts, such as a homecoming t-shirt, Bluetooth speakers, pompons and GSU-themed cupcakes.
The first performance was by Hazel Crest High School School’s band, who really put the pep in pep rally with the enthusiasm they generated within the crowd.
But the enthusiasm from the crowd was amped up even higher by the second performance that came from GSU’s Dance Company, whose energy left the crowd shouting out praise as they did routines to a mashup of some of Beyoncé’s hits.
Not only did The Dance Company win over the crowd, but they were announced as first place winners of the Club Wars, with the National Honor Society coming in 2nd.
After the performances and announcements, the pep rally turned into a Jaguar party as McBride and Jenkins gave control over to DJ Swerve for the rest of the event.
