GSU’s 2020 Employee of the Year: Omolola ‘Lola’ Adesanya
Governors State University is an institution where not only its students thrive during difficult times, but so do its employees. The staff is the foundation which has allowed our institution to maintain a stable, and reliable environment through the years.
As part of the university’s recognition of the accomplishments of its faculty and staff, GSU has named Omolola ‘Lola’ Adesanya its 2020 Employee of the Year.
Lola, a GSU employee for about 12 years, talked with this reporter about her recent achievement and what it means to her. Lola’s official job title is: Information Technology (IT) Support Associate. Her responsibilities include: Providing maintenance for computer desktop environments by analyzing requirements, resolving problems, and installing hardware and software solutions.
When asked what winning the 2020 Employee of Year Award meant to her, Lola answered: “It is a great honor to receive the GSU employee of the year award. I am humbled and grateful for the recognition of my contributions to GSU. I am thankful to my manager and every member of the Service Desk team. This award is for the entire ITS staff for their various contributions to this achievement, I cannot do this alone.”
Lola continued: “When you’re in IT, you need input of information from other staff because they have different specializations. When you need information, we help to offer solutions to those questions.”
Lola demonstrates true dedication and passion for her job.
When asked how this achievement will impact her work in the future future, she replied: “This award greatly motivates me to be the best at what I do. It is a challenge to grow my knowledge base to resolve Service Desk tickets in a timely manner with lots of persistence and hard work thereby providing the best quality of Service Desk support to GSU at large.”
Asked to share some advice with the Phoenix’s readers, she said: “GSU Service Desk team is the best. Do not hesitate to put in your tickets or call us for all your service desk needs. I will continue to provide you with the best and improved service according to your demands. Thank you.”
