In celebration of Governors State University’s Grad Celebration Week, the Office of Career Services is rolling out the red carpet for graduating students ready to make the leap into the professional world. “Workforce 101: Launch Your Career with Confidence” is a dynamic, two-hour hybrid workshop designed to equip job seekers with the tools, confidence, and strategies to succeed in today’s job market.
Scheduled for Monday, May 12 at 6 p.m., the ceremony will be conducted in person in the Hall of Governors and Engbretson Hall, with a Zoom alternative option available for those wishing to attend virtually.
From first handshake to final follow-up email, Workforce 101 does it all. The event starts with a 40-minute workshop on writing stand-out resumes and strong cover letters, followed by 40 minutes of fast-paced speed mock interviews where participants will receive real-time feedback from career coaches. The final 30 minutes will be dedicated to an open Q&A, where participants will be able to share personal struggles and hear insider tips.
Students are encouraged to dress in their business clothes and arrive with a resume in hand, especially those attending in person. With hands-on skill building, expert guidance, and in-person mentoring all under one roof, Workforce 101 will be the next step forward for anyone transitioning from campus to career.
Don’t miss your chance to turn your graduation party into a career turnaround. Online or on-site, Workforce 101 is your backstage pass to post-grad success.
