Governors State University offers vibrant cultural events like “Food for Your Soul” to celebrate Black History Month. Hosted by the Center for Student Engagement and Intercultural Programs, which will take place on Thursday, Feb. 27 , from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Engbretson Hall.
The event offers more than a culinary experience; it is an opportunity for the campus community to come together and reflect on the history, achievements, and culture of the Black community. The event features a dynamic culinary experience showcasing the flavors of African and African American cuisine, allowing everyone to experience the richness of these cultural traditions. Along with delicious food, the event will be filled with music, dance, and lively conversation, creating an atmosphere of unity and inclusivity that bridges diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
This celebration is designed to unite students, faculty, and staff from all walks of life, emphasizing the warmth and love that exists within the Black community while promoting a greater understanding of Black culture. It encourages open dialogue, connection, and celebration of the shared values.
