Governors State University will join several other colleges on Feb. 15 in the University Partnership at the Art Institute of Chicago.
The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and GSU Adjunct Professor Woodman Taylor will lead members of the university’s International Culture Organization (ICO) and GovState Indian Club in a presentation of Jitish Kallat’s Public Notice 3 on the Women’s Board Grand Staircase from 3 to 3:30 p.m.
During this time, students will recite Swami Vivekananda’s famous speech, originally delivered at the Art Institute’s Fullerton Hall on Sep. 11, 1893. This performance will highlight the historical and contemporary significance of Vivekananda’s presence in Chicago.
In this presentation, the members of the ICO and Indian Club, including Chaitanya Kumar Vepareddygari, Surya Kiran Vuppay, Yamunasrivalli Akki, Sai Sindhu Tumukunta, Harish Rayalapati, and Faiza Syed will join Taylor for the recitation. Their participation highlights the university’s commitment to cultural exchange and the exploration of global histories through art.
Entry is free for GovState students with their student ID.
