The Governors State men’s basketball team showcased an impressive performance, claiming a decisive 96-67 victory over Waldorf on Nov. 9. With solid contributions from both starters and reserves, Governors State controlled the game from start to finish, taking a 43-30 lead at halftime and continuing to dominate in the second half.
Javon Johnson led the offensive charge with a game-high 21 points, shooting 9-12 from the field, including 3 of 4 from three-point range. Vincent Davis was a force on the boards, finishing with 15 points and a team-high 9 rebounds while also adding an assist and a steal. Tyrell Isom contributed 10 points, showing his efficiency from beyond the arc with 2 three-pointers on 2 attempts.
Dekari Graham made an impact off the bench, scoring 9 points including 5 of 6 performance from the free-throw line. Oluyemi Elutilo added 9 points of his own, connecting on 4 of 7 shots and grabbing 3 rebounds. Isaiah Tolbert contributed across the board with 9 points, 5 assists, and 2 rebounds.
Governors State displayed efficient shooting, hitting 54.2% from the field and an impressive 55.6% from three-point range. Their defense also made a mark, forcing Waldorf into turnovers and maintaining a strong presence on the boards with 41 total rebounds.
