Jaguar Palooza is Governors State University Homecoming 2024 week celebration (Oct, 27- Nov. 2). Monday night the Hall of Governors turned into a rolling skating rink as part of the Skate Palooza event at GovState. This event attracted students from freshmen to graduate students and even a few faculty members were spotted skating. Mia Romo and Morgan Hokanson, both freshmen in the media studies program and honor students, had fun skating a few laps after their evening class before heading home for the evening.
Delton Pierce, assistant director of the Center for Student Engagement and Intercultural Programs (CSEIP), was making sure everyone was having fun and staying safe out on skating rink.
Parimala Sama, CSEIP graduate assistant, estimated “there was 50 to 60 students, maybe 75 all told” and the turnout exceeded expectations. Sama said the event was “excellent.” She said she skated some but fell down a few too many times.
Everyone who signed in to the Skate Palooza received a Jaguar Palooza cup and lanyard (no skating required).
