Governors State University has started its search for a new president.
The Board of Trustees has enlisted AGB Search, a nationally recognized higher education search firm, to guide recruitment. AGB previously partnered with GovState to find a College of Business Dean. The firm will collaborate with the university’s marketing and communications team to develop a detailed search profile.
AGB already has started engaging with the GovState community to gather input for the search profile. On Oct. 21 and 22, AGB consultants hosted a series of listening sessions with university stakeholders, including staff, students, faculty and alums. These sessions were meant to capture a wide range of perspectives, which will be critical in shaping the profile of the next president.
Community members who could not attend the sessions are still invited to contribute. The administration is asking for additional feedback through a survey that is now available online. The survey closes at 10:45 p.m. on Oct. 27, and input from the community will help shape the candidate recruitment process moving forward.
Before the Fall 2024 semester began, President Cheryl Green announced her retirement from the university, effective March 1, 2025.
