Get ready for a spooky evening where the Biology Club, the Pre-Health Club, and the Psi Chi Psychology National Honor Society creatively combine forces to bring “Haunted Field Station” to the GSU community on Oct. 24 from 5 to 9 p.m. It promises to be a spooky, exciting tour through the university’s Biology Field Station.
The event is twofold in its purpose, according to Daphne Domingo, president of the Biology Club and a senior majoring in biology — it raises funds for all participating student organizations and gives GSU a taste of Halloween spirit.
“We want this to be a fun and engaging experience for everyone while raising awareness about the field station,” Domingo said. “Many students have never been to the station, which is primarily used for research, bird banding, and ecological labs, so this event gives them an opportunity to tour this hidden gem while raising funds for our clubs.
The “Haunted Field Station” will be a horror-themed tour of the field station that belongs to the Biology Department, complete with scary woods, thrilling scares, and mystery in the air to keep attendees on their toes. Volunteers from all three student organizations have worked tirelessly to convert the field station into a haunting scene of spooky setups, creepy decorations, and surprises at every turn.
“It was on haunted woods, and we are excited for people to come out and get this immersive eerie environment we put together,” Domingo said.
The tours run every 15-20 minutes, and attendees will be shuttled to the field station from the F entrance on campus, where tickets will be available for $5. A waiting area in F1622 will have refreshments and Halloween-themed games while attendees wait for their turn to head out on the haunted tour. Costumes are highly encouraged, and students who wish to volunteer either as actors or with setup are welcome to contact Domingo directly.
The event is a fundraiser that will help support activities and events throughout the year since both clubs became active this year with a new executive board.
“This event will be a great opportunity to raise our presence on campus and become more involved with the GSU student body,” Domingo said. She also mentioned the collaboration with Psi Chi, which helped to make the event come alive through the shared ideas and creative planning across the groups.
“We have had so much fun planning this event and we hope everyone attending will enjoy it just as much,” Domingo said.
