Reconstructed, GSU’s literary magazine sponsored Pizza, Prose, Poems, a kick-off gathering for people to share their writings, or write something completely new.
Held on Sept 24, participants gathered around four tables in D1496 to get to know each other and share their ideas and pizza.
Reconstruction’s president and chief writer, Paul Tucker, said of the event: “There is a lot that goes into it, even if it may not seem like it.”
Prose is defined as the way a person chooses and organizes words to express something. It’s a form of art, where one shapes what they are trying to say to a reader and expresses oneself.
The gathering was a warm, open outlet for those attending, and most participants rapidly opened up about heir feelings. Bright ideas and conversation flowed easily around the room.
Many students and alumni shared, brainstormed ideas, or presented in their groups. Participants shared observations, feelings and thoughts with others, perhaps people whom they were meeting for the first time they met each other, or had seen on campus, but never knew in person.
One adviser summed up the gathering by saying: “We all have creativity….we can all share that. Writing and telling our stories is such a human thing, that connects all of us.”
