The Governors State Jaguars faced off against Trinity Christian College on Sept. 17, hoping that the home game would help them end a two-game losing streak.
That home court advantage never materialized as Trinity won in three straight sets. The first set ended 15-25 thanks to a an early 11-3 run by Trinity took at the beginning of the set. The Jaguars picked up the pace as the second set, but still dropped that one 18-25. The third set was closer, but the Jaguars were on the short end of the 20-25.
There were some outstanding performances from the Jaguars. Junior Layana Lima set game highs in both kills and total attempts with 12 and 40 accordingly. Sophomore Vanessa Segura led the defense with nine digs over the three sets.
The Jaguars will travel to St. Louis as they face Harris Stowe State University in a match Sept. 21. They will hope to break their three game losing streak.
