The GSU Jaguars snapped their four-game losing street by defeating the Trinity Christian Trolls 81-72, on Nov. 21.
The Jaguars went into DeVos gymnasium with a record of 1-5, while the Trolls’ record was 2-3. This game was a must win for the Jaguars, and they certainly played as such. During the first half both teams played tough. Trinity scored on shots from mid- to long-range, and the Jaguars dominated in the paint and played noteworthy defense.
In the second half, Trinity increased its defensive pressure, but just slowing the Jaguars wouldn’t be enough. Shooting guard Kyle Jackson was in control of the floor, and created shots to record 19 points and 9 nine rebounds to lead the Jaguars surge. GovState’s center, Vincent Davis, dominated the paint, contributing 13 points and blocking 4 shots.
The effort of the Jaguar reserves was impressive. Lashuan Gist put up 15 points coming off the bench as the reserves did a great job holding down the fort for the starters.
