Governors State University’s premium student-led public access television show, GSU TV, began broadcasting on Chicago-based television service CAN TV on Sept. 22, 2023.
GSU TV is a monthly college news program that is created and operated by GSU Media Studies students along with some faculty oversight. It is a staple of that program and Governors State as a whole. It is amazing work by amazing students who desire to deliver quality stories and updates for the entire GSU community.
In a statement from lead producer Jason Gonzalez:
“We were very fortunate to have our show air on Comcast for over a year. GSU TV’s transition to CANTV aligned perfectly considering we share the same mission and vision for programming. As well the monthly show we produce will impact a larger audience, since CAN TV is transmitted through local cable and streaming services. All things considered as the lead producer of GSU TV this transition is very exciting and I’m looking forward to continue to produce content that is beneficial for the southland.”
CAN TV is a television service established by the city of Chicago to increase the involvement of Chicago residents and groups in cable television. They strive to deliver over 140 hours of hyper-local programming to more than one million viewers in the city of Chicago.
So don’t forget to follow GSU TV on CAN TV each month; the next show will be presented in October.
