Outside Scholarship Opportunity for LatinX Students: Miller Perez Family Scholarship Fund is Accepting Applications

Attention current GSU students, Miller Perez Family Scholarship fund (formerly the Dr. Angela Perez Miller Scholarship Fund) is accepting applications. The Latinos Progresando (LP) is a non-profit organization committed to improving the lives of immigrants and their families by providing high quality information and resources for individuals to build secure, healthy and productive lives through immigration legal services, tuition assistance, coalition building, arts and culture programing and more, per the e-mail send to GSU students. 

Requirements to receive the $2,000 for the 2021-2022 academic year: 

  • Student should be admitted or enrolled in an undergraduate degree-seeking program, certificate program at an accredited college or university. 
  • Must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours for the 2021-2022 academic year. 
  • Experience financial need 
  • Be a Latino/ immigrant descent 

If you were awarded the Latinos Progresando scholarship you cannot apply for the Miller Perez Family Scholarship. 

Students should demonstrate commitment to community service and reside in the Cook County. 

The deadline is April 16, 2021, make sure to send all required items to Latinos Progresando, 3047 W. Cermak Rd., Chicago, IL 60623. Applications must be postmarked by this date or they may be dropped off at Latinos Progresando.

 The scholarship committee will review all submitted application materials in the beginning of May 2021. The finalists will be invited for an interview between May 17- 22, 2021. After all the interviews have been conducted, the committee will contact the recipients. The winners will be recognized at Latinos Progresando’s virtual One Community Breakfast in June 2021.
