Governors State University’s Performing Arts Center Presents: Opera Cabaret
GSU’s Performing Arts Center presents Opera Cabaret! This Opera Cabaret will feature four performers who are becoming much more widely recognized for their outstanding performancesofthe vocal arts.Opera Cabaret will feature Soprano Kelsea Webb, Mezzo-Soprano Emma Sorenson, Tenor Jared Esguerra, and Baritone Nicholas Ward.Wow! What a lineup! Some selections include arias like The Tales of Hoffman, Turandot, songs of contemporary musicals which include Hamilton, also with rarely performed pieces by Black composers like Thomas Kerr and Florence Price, along with an exquisite display of German American theatrical composer Kurt Weill.And it all couldn’t be done without the lovely host,John Concepcion who is the initiator of Opera Up Close-now in it’s eleventh season, past recipient of The American Prize in Vocal Performance in Opera and a finalist in the Bel Canto Regional Voice Competition, currently a full-time chorus member at Lyric Opera of Chicago and the Grant Park Festival Chorus and a member of the Advisory Board for The Center for Performing Arts at Governors State University.

Also be sure to note The Center for Performing Arts’ emphasis on various ticket prices as the arts are much less financially supported these days now more than in any field.Though they firmly “believe that arts should be accessible to all”they feel it best to include varying prices to match what patrons can economically manage.
