Holiday Food Box Giveaway
This week is the week of Thanksgiving, an American holiday that is best celebrated by consuming an excess of delicious food with family and friends, though this year our feasts will be social distanced. While a large amount of people can comfortably enjoy the food and fun this Thursday, it is important to remember those who are at a disadvantage. GSU hopes to bring awareness to the struggles of homelessness and hunger by participating in Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week.
This Thursday, Nov. 26, GSU is giving away Holiday Food Boxes to students and the community. A flyer about the event noted that “6.4 % of Will County and 13.8% of Cook County residents were reported to be living below the poverty line. Hunger and Homelessness Awareness is an annual initiative focused on addressing the issues of hunger and homelessness across the nation.” If anybody is in need of food during this holiday season, GSU will provide the food boxes at the Main Entrance of the university from 12 pm – 4 pm.
